Biography

Bill Mittelstadt received his BS and MS degrees from OSU in 1966 and 1968, respectively. Working as a summer intern for Bonneville Power Administration led to a lifelong career with the Administration and eventual international recognition of the projects that he promoted and supervised. These projects include: the Chief Joseph Dynamic Braking Resistor; the Pacific High-Voltage DC Link; the California-Oregon AC Intertie; and the Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator. The value of his work has been acknowledged by CIGRE and by his status as a Fellow of the IEEE. Throughout his career he has maintained his ties with OSU by serving as an Adjunct Professor on master's and doctoral thesis committees.
